If you are doing work in the social sector and want people to know about it, this workshop is for you. Blogging for People Who Should is both an introduction to the science of blogging and social media and a workshop on the art of telling your story online in an authentic and engaging way.
Held at the Centre for Social Innovation on Wednesday nights from 6 to 8:30pm, this four-week workshop starts on March 10th.
The sessions will cover the following:
Session One: A Blogging Plan and Who Am I Online? - Wednesday, March 10, 6-8:30pm
Participants will clarify why they are blogging and who they are writing for, set some goals and guidelines for success, make some decisions about how they want to shape their online identity, and finish with a basic blogging plan.
Session Two: Blooging Tools and Listening - Wednesday, March 17, 6-8:30pm
Participants will evaluate which blogging tool(s) will meet their needs, learn how to identify, join and help maintain online conversations and finish by learning how to build a basic online 'listening post' to find and track conversations happening online.
Session Three: Creating Blog Entries - Wednesday, March 24, 6-8:30pm
Participants will learn the key characteristics of effective blog entries and how to come up with fresh content while still having time for a life.
Session Four: Promotion and Evaluation - Wednesday March 31, 6-8:30pm
In this session, participants will learn how to make sure their message is visible on the internet, how to extend their reach with Facebook and Twitter and how they can monitor how their audience is finding and interacting with their blog.
